The movie 'Omniscient Reader', starring Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Min-ho, has maintained its position as the box office leader for two consecutive days, yet there's a growing concern over its box office trajectory.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie theater tickets, on its second day of release, 'Omniscient Reader' attracted 73,073 viewers nationwide, bringing its total audience to 200,504.

Despite holding onto the top spot at the box office for two days in a row, the number of viewers dropped by nearly 40%. Adding to the pressure, the competing film 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' is trailing by just 400 viewers, setting the stage for a tense weekend.

'The Fantastic Four: First Steps', which kicks off Marvel's Phase 6, chased 'Omniscient Reader' closely, drawing 72,690 viewers on its opening day.

In terms of reservation rates, 'Omniscient Reader' stands at 18.2%, while 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' has a reservation rate of 12.4%. However, the gap of about 6% could easily be overturned by on-site ticket sales, indicating a potentially rocky weekend for 'Omniscient Reader'.

Moreover, the mixed reviews from actual viewers cast a shadow over its word-of-mouth reputation. Fans who watched the movie without prior knowledge of the original work have praised it as a decent entertainment film. However, among fans of the original work, there's a flood of disappointed and harsh critiques.

'Omniscient Reader' faces the challenge of going head-to-head with the formidable competitor 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' in its opening weekend. The situation is set to become even more challenging next week with 'My Daughter Is a Zombie' joining the fray.
