Actor Cho Jung-seok revealed why he was able to deeply immerse himself in his character for the movie 'My Daughter Is a Zombie'.
At the press screening and media briefing for 'My Daughter Is a Zombie' held in the afternoon of the 21st at COEX Megabox in Samseong-dong, Seoul, Cho Jung-seok shared, "When I was offered this project, I was already a father to a daughter, which allowed me to deeply connect with it. I thought to myself, 'I absolutely have to do this.' There were reports saying, 'It's like it's made for me,' which might have been a bit exaggerated. I just happened to encounter this project at a perfect timing, and I wonder if I'll ever come across another project that fits me this well in the future. I was completely absorbed in the character of Jeong-hwan."
'My Daughter Is a Zombie' is a comedic drama about a doting father who goes into secret training to protect his daughter, who has become the last remaining zombie on Earth. Cho Jung-seok plays the role of the father, Jeong-hwan, who embarks on secret training for his daughter, the last zombie left in the world.
Cho Jung-seok is also a father to a daughter in real life. He married singer GUMMY in 2018 and welcomed a daughter in 2020. Known for his exceptional love for his daughter, he was able to immerse himself in this role more than any other.
Cho Jung-seok said, "From the moment I read the script, I was deeply empathetic with the character's emotions. During filming, I was so engrossed in the character's feelings that I had to constantly adjust to keep from getting too carried away. That aspect was both touching and challenging for me. This movie is not only moving but also filled with fun and cheerful elements," expressing his affection for the project.
'My Daughter Is a Zombie' is set to premiere on July 30.
