The film 'Omniscient Reader' has dominated the top spot in overall pre-sales for three consecutive days.
According to the integrated computer network for movie ticket sales on the 21st, 'Omniscient Reader' has claimed the number one spot in overall pre-sales with a rate of 28.8% (as of 10:50 AM). The number of tickets sold has surpassed 87,000. Since achieving the top spot in overall pre-sales on the 19th (Saturday), it has maintained its leading position for three days in a row.
'Omniscient Reader' is a fantasy action film where the world of a novel, which has been serialized for over ten years, becomes reality on the day it concludes. The story follows 'Kim Dokja,' the novel's sole reader, who, along with the novel's protagonist 'Yoo Joonghyuk' and his companions, strives to survive in the now apocalyptic world. The film is based on a web novel of the same name that has garnered over 200 million views.
With a production budget of approximately 30 billion won, 'Omniscient Reader' has visualized the web novel and successfully climbed to the top of the pre-sales chart amid high anticipation from audiences even before its release. With the film's premiere just two days away and pre-sales nearing 100,000 tickets, a spectacular debut is expected.
However, with a break-even point of around 6 million viewers, early box office success alone may not be enough to meet the target. Word of mouth will be crucial to overcome the challenge posed by upcoming competitors such as 'My Daughter Is a Zombie' and 'Pretty Crazy.' For now, the pre-release buzz is positive.
'Omniscient Reader' will be available in theaters nationwide on July 23.
