Mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang, real name Park Jung-won, has filed a lawsuit seeking 195 million won in damages against attorney Kim So-yeon. This legal action follows a court's decision to grant a preliminary injunction for the removal and prohibition of posting certain YouTube videos.
According to legal insiders, the Seoul Central District Court's 210th Civil Division accepted the civil lawsuit filed by Tzuyang against attorney Kim, who represented YouTuber 'Goo Je Yeok' (real name Lee Jun-hee), and YouTube channel operator Kim OO (a journalist for an online media outlet) on the 9th. Tzuyang's team stated, "This lawsuit seeks civil liability for the infringement of personal rights and emotional distress recognized by the preliminary injunction decision."
Previously, the Daejeon District Court's 21st Civil Division ruled that parts of the video could degrade Tzuyang's social reputation and pertain to her private life, ordering their removal and banning their posting. The video contained unverified personal life details and allegations, such as "Tzuyang is backed by Chinese forces," "she committed perjury in a criminal case," and "rumors of working in the entertainment business."
Following the injunction, attorney Kim So-yeon filed an objection, disputing the decision.
She argued on her social media, "Only six parts were subject to the injunction, and most were dismissed. The injunction court advised filing a main lawsuit. Otherwise, even the granted injunction could be revoked."
Meanwhile, Tzuyang has also filed a complaint against Kim Se-ui, the head of Hover Lab, for threats, coercion, and defamation. Kim Se-ui was reportedly investigated as a defendant in this case earlier this month.
