'Hi-FIVE' Scores Big Overseas: Tops Box Office in Hong Kong & Thailand Among Korean Films Released This Year

The film 'Hi-FIVE' has outperformed all other Korean films released this year in Hong Kong and Thailand, securing the number one spot at the box office.

'Hi-FIVE' is a comedic action adventure that follows five individuals who, after undergoing organ transplants, accidentally acquire unique superpowers. They then encounter those who seek to exploit their abilities.

In Hong Kong, the movie premiered on June 19th and astonishingly climbed to the top of the box office for Korean films released in 2025 within just four days. It has garnered continuous praise from a diverse group of local celebrities, including film directors, authors, cartoonists, journalists, and critics, fueling its popularity through word-of-mouth and drawing crowds to theaters.

Similarly, in Thailand, since its release on June 12th, 'Hi-FIVE' has proven its box office mettle by ranking first among Korean films released in 2025. Thai actress Alice Tsoi didn't hold back her praise, describing the movie as "funny, enjoyable, and entertaining!" Local film bloggers and media outlets have echoed this sentiment, calling it "a must-see Korean film of the year," "a flawless 10/10/10!", and praising its "perfect comedic timing that hits just right."

Since its domestic release on May 30th, 'Hi-FIVE' has attracted over 1.88 million viewers nationwide and is still available in theaters.
