'The Winning Try' stars Yoon Kye-sang and Lim Se-mi are set to captivate audiences with their intense and gun-filled reunion.
Scheduled to premiere on the 25th (Friday), the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'The Winning Try' (written by Lim Jin-ah, directed by Jang Young-seok) is a comedic sports drama that follows the unpredictable journey of an eccentric director, Joo Ga-ram, and the perennial underdog Hanyang High School rugby team as they race towards national championship glory. The drama, co-directed by Jang Young-seok of 'Taxi Driver 2' fame and penned by Lim Jin-ah, a winner of the SBS Cultural Foundation's script contest, boasts a cast that combines solid acting chops with vibrant energy, including Yoon Kye-sang (as Joo Ga-ram), Lim Se-mi (as Bae Yi-ji), and Kim Yo-han (as Yoon Sung-jun), raising expectations.
Among them, Yoon Kye-sang transforms into Joo Ga-ram, a former idol of the Korean rugby scene who shakes things up as the new coach of Hanyang High School after disappearing for three years. Joo Ga-ram and Bae Yi-ji, played by Lim Se-mi, a shooting coach at Hanyang High, share a past as ex-lovers, and his sudden reappearance throws her world into turmoil.
A thrilling still capturing Bae Yi-ji aiming a gun at Joo Ga-ram has been released, sparking curiosity. This image, showcasing their reunion after three years, contrasts Joo Ga-ram's cheerful greeting with Bae Yi-ji's shocked discovery of her former boyfriend. The flicker of longing in Bae Yi-ji's eyes is palpable.
However, the situation quickly flips, and the expressions of the ex-lovers, Joo Ga-ram and Bae Yi-ji, range from one extreme to another, eliciting laughter. Bae Yi-ji, engulfed in rage, aims a gun at Joo Ga-ram, who comically hides his body behind a whiteboard, peeking out with a mischievous charm. This scene, along with the reason behind Bae Yi-ji's gunpoint standoff, draws keen interest.
The production team of 'The Winning Try' shared, "The reunion romance between Yoon Kye-sang and Lim Se-mi will play a pivotal role in the narrative. We plan to delightfully portray what kind of story unfolds between them after their reunion with a gun involved, and the changes they encounter after meeting again at Hanyang High School. Stay tuned."
Set to fill this summer with the fiery energy of youth, 'The Winning Try' will follow the currently airing 'Our Movie' and premiere on the 25th (Friday) at 9:50 PM.
