'Running Man' delivered a chilling vacation special that blew away the summer heat.
The latest episode of SBS's 'Running Man' aired on the 6th, hitting a 2.2% viewership rate among the key demographic of 20 to 49-year-olds, making it not only the number one entertainment show in its timeslot but also placing it in the top three of all programs aired that day. The peak minute rating soared to 4.8%. (According to Nielsen Korea, metropolitan area, household-based)
This episode, themed as a 'Chilling Vacation Thriller,' featured appearances by actor Joo Hyun-young, BABYMONSTER's ASA, and AHYEON. Joo Hyun-young, practically an unofficial family member of 'Running Man,' made a striking entrance in a daring outfit, surprising Yoo Jae-suk who commented it was like "seeing Song Ji-hyo's bare stomach for the first time after knowing her for years," drawing attention.
Yoo Jae-suk then revealed, "Ji Ye-eun always gets nervous when Joo Hyun-young and Kim A-young are around, mixing in her words with ours." Joo Hyun-young didn't miss the chance to ask Ji Ye-eun if she was nervous, to which Ji Ye-eun denied, saying, "Not at all," causing laughter.
BABYMONSTER's youngest members, ASA and AHYEON, made their first appearance on 'Running Man,' receiving cheers. They proved their status as the current hot girl group by performing their new song 'HOT SAUCE,' and their unique sense of humor was highlighted when, asked about their age, ASA, who had been a trainee since elementary school, humorously responded, "I only graduated kindergarten," surprising everyone. AHYEON caused a burst of laughter by mistaking HAHA for Lee Sang-min.
The race, fittingly for the 'Chilling Vacation Thriller' theme, started with a horror experience. Ji Ye-eun, in particular, caused a riot of laughter by repeatedly exclaiming, "I'm really going to pee myself. This is a disaster," when selected for the horror experience with HAHA and Choi Daniel. Adding to the chaos, Choi Daniel screamed in terror at the production crew. After barely surviving the horror experience, Ji Ye-eun returned to the waiting room, feigning bravado with, "That wasn't so bad, right?"
Ji Ye-eun's bravado continued in the final vacation course. The last adventure was a 130m vertical hot air balloon ride, which ASA had been eager to try. The 'official cowards' of 'Running Man' were scared, but when HAHA mentioned, "Riding this makes you fart continuously," Ji Ye-eun, volunteering for the ride, declared, "I want to fart. Let's just let out a big one, guys," causing an uproar of laughter. On the other hand, Yoo Jae-suk, who ended up on the balloon, was too terrified to move, while Choi Daniel also proved his cowardice with his over-the-top reactions.
In the end, HAHA, Choi Daniel, and Joo Hyun-young were chosen for the punishment, tasked with making shaved ice for 50 people.
