Veteran Actor Shin Goo Mourns the Loss of His Wife After 51 Years Together

Beloved national actor Shin Goo (88) has bid farewell to his lifelong partner. His wife, Ha Jung-sook, passed away today (2nd) at the age of 87.

Shin Goo and the deceased shared 51 years of marriage, maintaining a strong family bond throughout. According to entertainment sources, she passed away due to old age on July 2, 2025, and the wake is being held at Seoul Asan Hospital Funeral Hall, Room 30. The funeral procession is scheduled for 5:20 AM on the 4th, with the burial sites at Seoul Memorial Park and Gwangneung Memorial Park.

He leaves behind a family including himself, a son, and a grandson.

Shin Goo made his debut in the 1962 play "The Cow" and has been acting for over 60 years, earning his status as a national actor. In 2023, ahead of the play "The Last Session," he underwent surgery to insert a pacemaker due to serious health concerns but has since recovered and continued to be active. Most recently, he showcased his undiminished presence by playing the main villain "Yeong-chun" in the movie "High Five" (directed by Kang Hyeong-cheol), sharing the role with Park Jin-young in a dynamic dual performance.
