SBS's 'Running Man' featured Ji Ye-eun's exceptional eating show, capturing viewers' attention.
The latest episode of 'Running Man' aired on the 29th saw a rise in its target demographic of 20-49-year-olds, achieving a 2.3% rating, an increase from the previous week, and securing the top spot in its time slot. The peak minute rating even jumped to 4.6%, according to Nielsen Korea's metropolitan area household standards.
In this episode, Ji Suk-jin and Ji Ye-eun, dubbed the "Chungju Ji siblings," kept their promise to the production team and members by gifting a coffee truck. However, Ji Suk-jin's overly photoshopped picture became a topic of discussion, with Yoo Jae-suk commenting, "It's almost creepy. Is this supposed to be a younger sibling concept?" Ji Suk-jin admitted, "Even I think it's a bit much," eliciting laughter.
The show featured a 'Miracle Morning Meal' race, where the cast had to complete a line on a bingo card filled with breakfast menu items through endless cycles of citizen interviews and breakfast meals. The first mission allowed them to change one menu item on the bingo card through a 'Water Balloon Safe Delivery' challenge. Despite some hiccups, the members successfully added 'sandwich' to their menu.
Starting their morning with a hearty bean sprout soup, the members devoured their "real first meal" with gusto. Mukbang queen Ji Ye-eun showcased her unique eating skills, even sprinkling extra seasoning on her food. After navigating through a breakfast buffet, the members faced their third meal: pork belly. As the eating continued, only four members who lost a mission had the chance to eat the pork belly, where Ji Ye-eun's performance shone brightly once again.
Despite the production team's 'time attack' pressure, Ji Ye-eun insisted, "Soybean paste stew is a must with pork belly," refusing to put down her spoon and adding, "It's only polite to eat the tteokbokki too," leaving everyone in stitches. Song Ji-hyo remarked, "I can't compete with her." Ji Ye-eun didn't stop at the fourth meal of sandwiches or the fifth meal of blood sausage soup, and Kim Jong-kook praised her, saying, "She's like Jun Ji-hyun when eating."
However, despite Ji Ye-eun's efforts, the team failed to complete their meals within the time limit, and the race ended in failure. As a result, Yoo Jae-suk and HAHA were tasked with preparing breakfast for the next week's filming as a penalty.
