Prosecutors have sought a seven-year prison sentence for former NCT member TAEIL, who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman along with two other men.
During the first trial held on the 18th at the Seoul Central District Court's 26th Criminal Division (Chief Judge Lee Hyun-kyung), the prosecution requested a seven-year prison sentence for TAEIL and two others charged with aggravated rape. They also asked the court to order the completion of a sexual violence treatment program, public disclosure of personal information, and employment restrictions.
The prosecution stated, "The case is extremely serious, and the nature of the crime is particularly egregious." They expressed skepticism about the sincerity of the defendants' confession, questioning the logic behind sending the victim home in a taxi to a different location and the decision to bring someone they had just met at 2 AM to a residence. They argued that a heavy sentence was unavoidable.
In his final statement, TAEIL expressed deep regret and apology, saying, "I am profoundly sorry for the significant harm I caused the victim and disappointed everyone. If given leniency, I consider it the last chance in my life and will do my best to contribute positively to society in any way I can."
According to TAEIL's representatives, the victim has agreed to a settlement and has submitted a request to the investigative authorities not to pursue charges. TAEIL's attorney stated, "Both the defendant and the defense take the gravity of this case very seriously and offer our deepest apologies to the victim. The defendant deeply regrets his actions and the lasting impact they have had on the victim's life."
