Lee continued, "From the overarching themes to the smaller themes in each episode, and the balance among the numerous characters, it's been incredibly challenging. Some characters deal with social issues, while others express emotional aspects of human relationships. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk has done an excellent job distributing these elements."
Furthermore, Lee added, "Looking back at up to season 3, I believe that's been our greatest achievement. Meeting fans of 'Squid Game' both internationally and domestically, I've found that everyone has their favorite character and their own emotions tied to them. We're grateful for the passion fans have shown, not only for the themes we've explicitly presented but also for the ones we've subtly hinted at. It feels rewarding to communicate so well with so many people."
He also expressed, "I'm in awe of the director, and I want to send a round of applause to everyone who participated in 'Squid Game' for creating such a high-quality series up to season 3."
Meanwhile, 'Squid Game Season 3' depicts the final fate of participants who re-enter the game with their own agendas, including Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who loses his best friend, the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) who enters the game in disguise, and the survivors of the brutal game. The series, known for its fresh settings and compelling story, has caused a global sensation with its final chapter.
This season, once again directed, written, and produced by Hwang Dong-hyuk, features Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-shim, Jo Yu-ri, Chae Gook-hee, Lee David, Roh Jae-won, Jeon Seok-ho, and Park Hee-soon, bringing the characters' final destinies to life with a solid acting ensemble.
Lee Jung-jae hinted at his character Gi-hun's transformation in season 3, saying, "Overcoming the guilt, regret, and despair from not being able to save many people inside the game, and the death of a friend, Gi-hun enters the game initially with the intent to stop it and punish its creator. In season 3, he contemplates what more he must do within the game, deciding to act on what he believes he can do. That's the change you'll see in Gi-hun."
'Squid Game' concludes with this season 3. The series' lead, Lee Jung-jae, commented, "We've put in a lot of effort. The evaluation will depend on the emotions of the many viewers. I'm curious about the feedback. Given the variety of characters and the multitude of themes, diverse opinions are inevitable. I'm eager to hear more thoughts on season 3."
