Actor Lee Je-hoon opened up about the difficulties of delivering a significant amount of English dialogue in his latest film.
At the press screening and Q&A session for the movie 'Big Deal' held on the afternoon of the 29th at CGV in Yongsan, Seoul, Lee Je-hoon shared that he did extensive research to naturally portray In-beom, an employee at a global investment firm.
Lee Je-hoon said, "I read a lot of news and economic journals. I also looked into records from South Korea's challenging IMF era to understand not just the event that inspired the movie but also the many things that happened during that time."
Regarding the challenge of delivering his English lines, he mentioned, "There were many difficult English lines. I felt a lot of pressure and worry about how to pull them off, but I received advice and coaching from experts and practiced by memorizing them thoroughly."
Hollywood actor Byron Mann, who co-starred with Lee Je-hoon, even complimented him, saying, "He spoke English better than I did."
'Big Deal' tells the story of the 1997 IMF financial crisis, where Jong-rok, a finance director for whom the soju company is his life, and In-beom, a global investment firm employee who only pursues performance, fight over the fate of Korea's national soju. Lee Je-hoon and Yoo Hae-jin take the lead roles.
The movie is set to premiere on the 30th.
