Police have referred "A," a former executive of the agency that managed K-pop group OMEGA X, to prosecutors with a recommendation for indictment on charges of indecent assault against group members.
The Women and Juvenile Affairs Division of Seoul’s Hyehwa Police Station concluded on the 7th that "A," the wife of the former agency CEO, committed acts of indecent assault using her position of power during overseas tour travel, targeting six members of OMEGA X.
Back in August 2023, seven members of the 11-member group filed a criminal complaint against A, accusing her of indecent assault.
According to the complaint, some members alleged that A, while intoxicated, engaged in unwanted physical contact—such as linking arms and hugging—while sitting next to a member at a South American airport on September 22, 2022, as they waited to board a flight during an overseas tour. Another member claimed that in July 2022, during a meeting in the agency’s conference room in Seoul’s Seongdong District, A inappropriately touched his thigh.
Following months of investigation, police concluded that the allegations involving six members were credible and referred the case to the prosecution.
However, they decided not to pursue charges related to the complaint filed by member HWICHAN.
A, in turn, filed a counterclaim against HWICHAN, alleging that he had in fact assaulted her during their meeting. That case has also been handed over to prosecutors and is currently under investigation.
The initial allegations of abuse by OMEGA X's former agency—including physical assault, verbal abuse, forced drinking, and indecent behavior—first surfaced through exclusive reports published in October 2022, such as "[Exclusive Video] 'OMEGA X Assaulted and Abused by Agency CEO'" and "[Exclusive] Was OMEGA X Assaulted by Their CEO? Audio Sparks Outrage."
In response to those reports, the former agency claimed in 2023 that there was no abuse or misconduct toward the 11 members. Instead, they alleged that the members had colluded with another company to engage in tampering.
However, the 20th Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of OMEGA X in a lawsuit regarding the termination of their exclusive contracts, stating that the members' contract termination could not be considered tampering and that the agency was at fault for breaking the trust in the relationship. The court also ordered the agency to pay each member 5 million won.
The former agency also filed a complaint with the Korea Fair Trade Commission, accusing OMEGA X's current agency of tampering, but the commission concluded in October last year that there was no evidence of wrongdoing.
In addition to the indecent assault charges, A is also facing assault allegations. Member JAEHAN filed a police report stating that on October 22, 2022, around 11 p.m., shortly after a performance in Los Angeles, A violently yanked the hood of his T-shirt in front of a hotel elevator, causing him to fall. Prosecutors fined A 500,000 won, but she contested the penalty and is currently undergoing a formal trial. A verdict in that case is expected this July.
