Director Jang Jae-hyun, the creative force behind the film 'Exhuma,' has been crowned 'Best Director' by his peers.

At the 23rd Director's Cut Awards held at 7 PM on the 20th, Jang Jae-hyun triumphed over a competitive field including Kim Hyung-joo for 'The Match', Nam Dong-hyup for 'Handsome Guys', Bong Joon-ho for 'Mickey 17', Woo Min-ho for 'Harbin', and Heo Jin-ho for 'A Normal Family', securing the prestigious Director's Award. This award is essentially the grand prize of the ceremony.

The Director's Cut Awards are determined through a vote by Korean film directors. Jang Jae-hyun was recognized for his outstanding achievements and capabilities demonstrated last year, receiving the most votes from members of the Korean Film Directors' Guild. He also received the Best Screenplay Award, further acknowledging his talent as a writer.

'Exhuma,' Jang Jae-hyun's third feature film, made history in the occult genre by attracting over ten million viewers (cumulative audience of 11.91 million), enjoying immense popularity.

The Best Actor Award went to Lee Byung-hun for 'The Match' and Kim Go-eun for 'Exhuma'. Lee Byung-hun celebrated his second consecutive win, following last year's 'Concrete Utopia'.
