Actor Ryu Deok-hwan is set to reveal his almost-debut as an idol alongside G-DRAGON on 'Whenever Possible.' SBS's show 'Whenever Possible' is a slice-of-life program that finds and delivers moments of luck in the brief gaps of everyday life.
Its Season 3 premiere on the 6th shattered its own record with the highest ratings yet, according to Nielsen Korea: 5.8% nationwide, 4.5% in the metropolitan area, 4.1% across the country, and 1.9% among the 20-49 demographic, making it the top-rated show in its time slot across all these categories.
In the upcoming episode of 'Whenever Possible,' actors Lee Jung-eun and Ryu Deok-hwan will explore the Wangsimni area, promising a day filled with healing and laughter.
During the filming, Ryu Deok-hwan shared his unexpected past of nearly debuting in the same group as G-DRAGON.
"I originally came from a B-boy background. When I was younger, I performed with Ji-yong (G-DRAGON's real name) in 'Little H.O.T.' and even took the stage at an SM concert. Later, we both moved to YG," he revealed, surprising everyone with his illustrious past.
He continued, "Now, my joints aren't what they used to be, so I can't dance as well. I tried showing off in front of my wife a few times, but she told me, 'Please don't go around saying you can dance.'" This confession had everyone in stitches.
When Yoo Jae-suk expressed regret that Ryu didn't pursue that path, Ryu shared, "Back then, 'Country Diaries' was my top priority. I played the role of Kim Soo-mi's grandson, the son of Il-yong," revealing his early passion for acting.
Moreover, Ryu Deok-hwan confessed to having a bout of 'star disease' (a term used in Korea to describe a celebrity's inflated ego) at a young age, which resonated with Yoo Jae-suk.
"By the time I was in college, I had become famous thanks to the movie 'Like a Virgin,' and I think that's when I caught the 'star disease,'" he admitted candidly.
Yoo Jae-suk empathized, saying, "It's brave of Deok-hwan to share his story. It happens to the best of us," while Lee Jung-eun added humorously, "I take off my mask as soon as I get to the hospital, hoping someone will recognize me."
The honest revelations from Ryu Deok-hwan and Lee Jung-eun about their pasts will be aired on 'Whenever Possible,' scheduled for 9 PM on the 13th.
