Actor Jin Tae-hyun has revealed he has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and is preparing for surgery.
On May 7, Jin Tae-hyun shared a message on his social media, "I have some rather heavy news to share. It's something you would have eventually found out, and many already know due to the buzz. Given the personal and professional commitments ahead, I've thought long and hard before deciding to share this with you."
He continued, "After undergoing a health check-up with my wife last April, it turned out I'm in good health except for being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It's in its early stages and small in size, but surgery is necessary before it spreads elsewhere."
Jin Tae-hyun added, "It seems my heart has been overburdened by various personal challenges and stress. However, having my loving wife and our pets by my side has been a great support. I'm also grateful for keeping up with my marathon training and cycling, which I believe has helped me stay strong."
"I'll continue to fulfill my filming schedules and overseas commitments without overexerting myself until the surgery. People say it's a 'kind' cancer or a 'slow' cancer, but cancer is cancer. While it did startle us, we're determined to face it head-on as we always do," he affirmed his resolve.
He also mentioned, "Right now, all I'm worried about is my wife, the TV shows I'm part of, and training for an upcoming marathon in the second half of the year. I promise to undergo surgery and treatment successfully and show you the resilient side of me as an actor, entertainer, and marathon runner."
His wife, Park Si-eun, echoed his sentiments on her social media, posting, "My honey, you will get through this," sending a wave of support.
Meanwhile, Jin Tae-hyun married actress Park Si-eun in 2015 and they have adopted three daughters. He is currently a regular on the JTBC reality show 'Divorce Camp'.
