The crime action film "Yadang: The Snitch," directed by Hwang Byung-guk, claimed the top spot at the weekend box office.
According to data from the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system released on the 21st, "Yadang: The Snitch" attracted 608,140 moviegoers nationwide during its opening weekend, from Friday, April 18 to Sunday, April 20. The film’s total admissions have now reached 786,068.
"Yadang: The Snitch" has set a new record for the highest opening weekend among Korean films released this year, surpassing the debut numbers of 2025 releases like "The Match" (700,838 viewers) and "Hitman 2" (604,875 viewers). It also outperformed the opening weekend figures of R-rated Korean films released after the pandemic, such as "Hidden Face" (354,454 viewers) and "The Childe" (347,768 viewers).
"Yadang: The Snitch" follows a drug broker, an ambitious prosecutor, and a relentless detective, each with their own motives, as their paths collide in the dangerous world of Korea’s drug trade. The film delivers a gripping blend of crime and action as these three characters become entangled in a high-stakes game.
Despite its R rating, "Yadang: The Snitch" is off to a strong start at the box office, signaling a promising run ahead. With a production budget of approximately 13 billion KRW (about $9.5 million USD), the film’s break-even point is estimated at around 2.5 million admissions.
