The film 'The Match,' starring Lee Byung-hun and Yoo Ah-in, has claimed the top spot at the weekend box office for three consecutive weeks.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets, 'The Match' attracted 306,026 viewers nationwide from the 11th to the 13th. The cumulative number of viewers has now reached 1,807,607.
Released on the 26th of last month, 'The Match' has maintained its position as the daily box office leader for 19 consecutive days and is on the verge of surpassing 2 million viewers. Although the number of viewers has started to decline in its third week, no other film has emerged as a strong competitor.
As it is expected to surpass 2 million viewers this weekend, attention is focused on how it will perform against the upcoming release of 'Yadang: The Snitch' on the 16th. Currently, 'Yadang: The Snitch' holds a reservation rate of 31.1%, while 'The Match' is at 7.2%, ranking first and third, respectively.
'The Match' is directed by Kim Hyung-joo, known for 'The Sheriff in Town,' and depicts the legendary Go match between Cho Hun-hyun and Lee Chang-ho.
