Yeji (24), who debuted with ITZY, has made her solo debut after seven years, announcing an exciting new chapter while overcoming her anxieties.
At the showcase for her first solo album 'AIR' held at a hotel in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 10th, Yeji expressed, "As I prepare to debut as a true solo artist, I feel more than just joy; I can't help but think, 'Has it really been this long?' Being the oldest and the leader of the group, I feel like I am the first to take on this solo role. I believe this activity could be a significant turning point in my career as an artist."
Yeji continued, "While preparing for my solo album, I wanted to discover parts of myself that I didn't know before, and I wanted to show those aspects without any shame. I want to present my true self and make a lasting impression on the public about who Yeji is."
Her first solo album includes a total of four tracks, featuring the title song 'AIR,' as well as 'Invasion,' 'Can't Slow Me, NO,' and '258.' K-pop composers such as Danky, Lee Woo-min, Nodey, and Ryan Jeon contributed to the album. Producer Park Jin-young and Yeji collaborated on the title track, enhancing its authenticity and quality.
It has been reported that her fellow ITZY members have shown tremendous support for her as the first solo artist from the group.
Yeji shared, "Shooting the music video alone was a first for me, and it was challenging at times, but the members came to visit me even though the location was far away. I also received a coffee truck for the first time. Their support and encouragement meant a lot to me. It gave me pride, and I have such fond memories of it."
Yeji's first solo album will be released on the 10th at 6 PM.
