Taeyeon of K-pop girl group Girls' Generation revealed why she is not attending the upcoming concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of her long-time agency, SM Entertainment.
On January 6, Taeyeon took to an online fan-star communication platform to share why she is not attending the upcoming 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL'.
"Driven to provide a great performance, I had in mind performing two or three songs at the concert. I told my agency that and was waiting to hear back from them."
"The bottom line is that I won't be able to perform there at all because they did not prepare for my stage.", the singer wrote.
In December last year, SM Entertainment announced a change to the artist lineup for 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL', a concert celebrating their 30th anniversary.
Taeyeon, who was on the previously released concert lineup, will not be attending, SM Entertainment revealed via ticketing portal Melon Ticket.
"We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the casting change. Cancellation or refund due to this matter is available on the customer service center of the ticketing website without cancellation fees.", the agency stated.
In her message to fans, Taeyeon said, "I want you guys to know that it's never like I lack passion for performing or that I got out of it because I didn't want to."
"My love for performing is genuine, and I only wanted to do my best on stage. But as my own agency doesn't help me, I'm seriously wondering what's happening."
"The reason I'm sharing this with So-won (Girls' Generation fandom name) is to clear up any misunderstandings you guys might have about me because of the situation.", the singer added.
One fan left Taeyeon a message saying, "The agency might have had some situation that caused all this. It must have been difficult for them as well."
Taeyeon replied, "It may have been difficult for the agency, given that 'the situation' was them having forgotten to share information (for my stage)."
On January 6, five days before the concert, SM Entertainment announced an additional change to its lineup, that WENDY of K-pop girl group Red Velvet would not be participating.
"WENDY is unable to attend the concert due to a personal matter. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the cast change. Thank you for understanding.", the agency stated through Melon Ticket.
Later that day, WENDY wrote on a star-fan communication platform, "I talked to the agency about this more than a month ago, but the announcement was only made today.", and apologized to her fans.
Meanwhile, 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL', featuring many of SM Entertainment's artists, is set to take place at the Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul, on January 11 and 12.
