Following actor Ryoo Seung Bum's recent mention of his ex-girlfriend, actress Kong Hyo-jin, their ongoing friendship is getting attention.
On November 25, Ryoo Seung Bum guested on SBS POWER FM's radio show 'Cultwo Show'.
During the show, Ryoo Seung Bum talked about his cameo appearance on MBC's 2010 television series 'Pasta', in which Kong Hyo-jin played the lead.
"I was having dinner right next to the 'Pasta' filming location, and suddenly, Hyo-jin called me up, asking me to help her out."
"She told me that the 'Pasta' team would need me for like half an hour, so I went there and made an appearance on the series.", the actor remarked.
The show featured the moment from 'Pasta' where Ryoo Seung Bum appeared in a chic outfit.
The host, comedian Kim Tae Hyun, exclaimed, "So, your cameo wasn't pre-discussed? Wow, you look so cool. I can't believe that was the outfit you were casually wearing that day!"
"That's nothing special, really.", Ryoo Seung Bum humbly replied.
After their romance went public in 2001, Kong Hyo-jin and Ryoo Seung Bum had been together for about a decade.
However, the couple announced their breakup in 2012.
About the reason for their breakup, Kong Hyo-jin said, "It was a mutual decision. Many think our relationship might have had a big problem, but it wasn't like that."
"Anyone who has ever been in a decade-long relationship would understand why we broke up. I just wanted a break from being in a relationship. There was no fight, and nobody one-sidedly asked to break up.", the actress explained.
Although their romantic relationship was over, the two have stayed friends.
When actor Bae Jung Nam posted a picture he took with Ryoo Seung Bum on social media in 2017, Kong Hyo-jin left an affectionate comment, saying, "Hello again, my dear swaggy Seung Bum!"
During his radio show appearance in 2020, Ryoo Seung Bum shared he congratulated Kong Hyo-jin over the phone after she won the Grand Prize in the 2019 KBS Drama Awards.
In 2019, Ryoo Seung Bum married his girlfriend, a Slovakian painter ten years younger than him; the couple shares one child, a daughter.
Kong Hyo-jin tied the knot with ten-year-younger singer Kevin Oh in 2022.
