YG Entertainment is finally opening its notorious 'Jewel Box'.

On October 29, YG Entertainment announced that the agency will be launching a new survival audition program called 'YG Jewel Box' (literal translation).

The program's title 'YG Jewel Box' derived from the agency's nickname itself, as fans named YG Entertainment a jewel box where all the artists are securely stored and take forever to make their comebacks.

YG Entertainment's CEO Yang Hyun Suk commented, "There are a total of 29 male trainees in YG, and they will be revealed through 'YG Jewel Box'. Most of them are between the ages of 14 to 19. As the number of contestants is much higher than when BIGBANG, WINNER and iKON were selected, the selection is more competitive than ever."

When it comes to selection criteria, Yang Hyun Suk shared, "The criteria is the same as that of BLACKPINK. We will focus not only on their talents, but also their visual charms and star potential. We started with the plan of selecting five members, but it will be flexibly adjusted depending on how the program carries out."

'YG Jewel Box' is scheduled to unveil on November 16 via V LIVE and YouTube.
