The story why K-pop boy group BTS changed the lyrics of its latest title track 'FAKE LOVE' stage at the '2018 Billboard Music Awards' is unveiled.

On May 20 local time, the '2018 Billboard Music Awards' was held in Las Vegas, and BTS unveiled its newest track 'FAKE LOVE' for the first time.

On top of the group's amazing performance that has mesmerized everyone around the world, the reason why the group has changed the lyrics of the song is out.

BTS performed the song in Korean, but some Korean words might have sounded like offensive terms in English.

From the lyrics, the phrase "'naega' watteon route" and "nado 'naega' nuguyeonneunjido jal moreuge dwaesseo", meaning "The route I took" and "I am not sure of who I am", may have resembled the contemptuous and degrading racial slur 'nigger'.

For their fans to enjoy the performance without any misunderstandings, the members of BTS decided to change the lyrics.

J-HOPE and SUGA, who were singing the parts, changed the parts into "'yeogi' watten route" and "nado 'nae jashini' nuguyeonneunjido moreuge dwaesseo."

In the later parts of the lyrics, the phrase "nasseolda hane 'niga' joahadeon naro byeonan 'naega'," meaning "You say I'm unfamiliar although I'm changed into the one you used to like", was also turned into "nasseolda hane 'gyeolguk' joahaedeon naro byeonan 'saram'."

This trivial change in the lyrics reflected the thoughtful and considerate attitude of the members for their fans.

Meanwhile, BTS won the 'Top Social Artist' award two years in a row and has completely mesmerized the audience with 'FAKE LOVE'.
