K-pop girl group Girls' Generation fans voiced concern over Taeyeon's security at the airport.
On August 17, in various online communities and social media, there was a video of Taeyeon spotted at Incheon International Airport heading to Jakarta, Indonesia.
In the video, Taeyeon was surrounded by the crowd and was not able to walk. Then soon, Taeyeon bumps into a camera―which was shooting her. She then stops walking and touches her head with her hand, and walks toward the gate.
Other than one manager standing next to Taeyeon, there was no other guards around her.
Then on August 18, Taeyeon revealed her distress at the airport on her Instagram.
She wrote, "At the airport in Jakarta, there was crowd waiting for me. It was a dangerous situation where my feet and body all tangled up. I actually fell on the ground and cried.
Perhaps they knew I was in a dangerous situation, on-the-site guard came to me and hold me in the back, which also frightened me.
But then people kept on touching me (physically) on the side and in the back. Even people who waited for me to see me fell on the ground as well.
[...] So I was not able to maintain a good look when I arrived in Jakarta. I'm sorry for my fans and please let's follow the rules. I will consider today's situation as one of the happenings that can occur and I hope nobody's hurt their feelings."
Taeyeon's fans reprimanded her management agency for her unsafe environment she went through, "Taeyeon did not get the protection she needs", "It could have been worse".
