[SBS Star] Girls' Generation Reality Show Producer Describes Each Member's Personality
K-pop girl group Girls' Generation reality show producer Jung Seung-il described the personality of each Girls' Generation member. On June 29, Jung Seung-il talked about his new reality show 'Sositamtam' featuring all eight members of Girls' Generation to the press. Jung Seung-il said, &'Girls' Generation is about to make their first comeback in five years. I wanted to capture the sides of the members that they weren't able to show to the public for the last five years, as well as the changes in them during those years.&' He continued, &'I've known them for like over 20 years now, and I tried to get every bit of them on camera; I didn't allow myself to miss tiny things they talked about or did. They are constantly talking to one another. Their conversation honestly never ends. Despite being busy with their hectic schedule ahead of comeback, I never saw them looking tired.&' Then, the producer told what each member of Girls' Generation is like. Jung Seung-il commented, &'Taeyeon is quiet, but she is so off the wall at the same time. Sunny is the most suitable member for reality shows. She's really funny, and I rely on her the most for our show. Tiffany is like a cartoon character. She's filled with energy and charms. But she always ends up being the one who the members choose to pull a prank on.&' He went on, &'Hyoyeon's words impresses me. Everything that she says is just hilarious. Yuri is a great cook, and good carer. She is looking after her fellow members―she pays close attention to their well-being and feelings at all times. Sooyoung has an easy-going personality. She is straight-forward when she speaks. She's also professional.&' Lastly, he commented, &'Nobody has the same bright energy and friendliness as Yoona. It's unbelievable. Seohyun still gives off that maknae-like vibe, but she's definitely gotten slicker. Nobody can stop her now.&', then laughed. The first episode of 'Sositamtam' is scheduled to be unveiled on July 5 at 9PM KST, and the group is planned to return to the industry with a new album in August. [SBS Star] 2PM JUNHO Reveals He Received Over 100 Offers Following the Success of 'The Red Sleeve'
Actor/K-pop boy group 2PM's member JUNHO shared that he received over 100 offers following the success of his recently-ended drama 'The Red Sleeve'. On June 29 episode of tvN's television show 'You Quiz on the Block', JUNHO made a guest appearance. While JUNHO and the hosts Yu Jae Seok and Cho Sae-ho were talking together, Yu Jae Seok mentioned hearing about JUNHO's popularity among producers. Yu Jae Seok said, &'After 'The Red Sleeve', I've been hearing so much about you within the industry, JUNHO. It seems like all producers wants you in their projects. I heard that you have been receiving countless offers recently.&' JUNHO responded, &'Ah yes, thankfully, many producers have reached me. It's taking me some time to go over all those scripts though.&' Then, Yu Jae Seok asked, &'How many offers have you received?&', which JUNHO answered, &'I'm not sure if it would be okay for me to say the exact number, but I did receive about 100 offers so far.&' After going &'wow&' at the number, Yu Jae Seok commented, &'I also heard that you are a very ambitious person. Back in the day, you once said that you wanted to act in Hollywood movies, get invited to the Oscars and Cannes Film Festival with your acting. Is that right?&' JUNHO shyly laughed and answered, &'Well, it's more like a dream than an ambition. I've dreamed about going to Hollywood, the Oscars and Cannes ever since when I was little. If I have a goal, then I'll work harder to reach that goal, which will help me to improve myself. That's why I dream big.&' He continued, &'I feel like I have a solid career as a K-pop singer. I've won a lot of awards, and received lots of love. But when we were actively promoting our albums, my fellow members acted at the same time, while I solely focused on my singing career. My agency had no interest in getting me into the acting business too.&' He added, &'It's always been my dream to become an actor, so I often felt quite empty whenever I was in our dorm alone. I wondered when I would ever be able to show my real self to the public. During those times, I still prepared myself for my acting debut. I worked really hard.&' (Credit tvN You Quiz on the Block) (SBS Star)SBS 뉴스 | Lee Narin | 2022.06.30 | 방송/연예
[SBS Star] VIDEO: BTS V Under Fire for His Attitude Upon His Arrival in Korea; He Apologizes
V of K-pop boy group BTS is currently under fire for the attitude he showed towards fans and press photographers upon his arrival in Korea. In the afternoon of June 28, V, LISA of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK and actor Park Bo Gum arrived at Seoul Gimpo Business Aviation Center on their private jet. The three stars had attended a fashion show held by a French designer brand in Paris, France together. They were initially scheduled to arrive at 8:55 AM, but their flight got delayed by hours and arrived at 12:20 PM in the end. To welcome them back to the country, a great number of their fans as well as lots of press photographers waited for them outside the aviation center since early in the morning. When they heard that their plane had finally landed, they got their cameras out and got ready to wave to them. V was the first one to come out of the exit, then LISA and lastly, Park Bo Gum. When V exited the aviation center, his fans screamed in excitement and shouted his name out loud so that he would look at their way. However, V just kept walking to the van with hands in his pockets, looking in the opposite direction. Then, he got into his van, closed the door and drove away with windows closed. As he left like this, sounds of disappointment were heard in the area. About 15 minutes later, V took to BTS' official fan community to offer his apology. V wrote, &'Press photographers and ARMY (BTS' fandom name), I'm sorry for going straight into the van like that. You guys have been waiting for me for a long time, right? Here's my gift for you.&' The gift was two photos that he took of himself making a fun facial expression on the landing strip, alongside the star-filled sky, which looked like he had taken while on the jet. After photos and videos of V at the aviation center went around online, some criticized V saying, &'He showed poor manners, and was being really rude to everyone who went all the way to the aviation center and waited hours to see him.&' Many compared him to LISA and Park Bo Gum who had the exact same hectic schedule in Paris, and went on a long flight as him. Both LISA and Park Bo Gum politely bowed to fans and press photographers as soon as they came out, waved to them with a big smile, and made different poses for photos for them, and waved out the window once they got into their vans. Not only they said that V's attitude was disappointing, but they also shared that his apology lacked sincerity. But some are arguing back at them saying, &'It is not part of V's job to make any gestures to them, and apologize for something such as that.&' (Credit WeVerse, '비몽' YouTube, 'harpersbazaarjapan' Instagram) (SBS Star)SBS 뉴스 | Lee Narin | 2022.06.29 | 방송/연예
[SBS Star] KARA Park Gyu-ri Talks About How Koo Ha Ra's Passing Affected Her
K-pop girl group KARA's member Park Gyu-ri shared how her fellow group member Koo Ha Ra's passing affected her. On June 24 episode of Channel A's television show 'Golden Clinic', Park Gyu-ri made a guest appearance. In this episode, Park Gyu-ri was seen telling psychiatrist Dr. Oh Eun-young about her depression that she had for some time. Park Gyu-ri said, &'There's nothing that I feel it's important in life these days. I live with my dog, and I see no hope for us. I don't really get why I have to tolerate all the hardships as well.&' She continued, &'I went on a trip alone once, and looked out the window from my hotel room. I even had thoughts such as, 'It probably wouldn't hurt so much if I jumped off from here, because it's too high above the ground.'&' After that, Park Gyu-ri revealed that she felt her universe shaking for the first time when Koo Ha Ra passed away in 2019. Back in November 2019, Koo Ha Ra was found dead at her home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Following an investigation, the police concluded that Koo Ha Ra took her own life. With a shaky voice, Park Gyu-ri said, &'I'm not blaming her for anything, but when Ha Ra left like that, I felt my thoughts and values shaking and collapsing for the very first time. I just never thought someone as pretty as her, who is much loved, would ever leave the world that way.&' She wiped her tears off her cheeks and carried on, &'I don't know whether it's okay to relate my depression with her passing, but I did spend all my 20s with her. I honestly had no idea that she would be gone like that.&' She resumed, &'I spend the majority of my time by myself, and am not the type of person who talks about my worries and difficulties to anyone. So, there were times when I thought I wanted to do the same as what Ha Ra did.&' In response to her story, Dr. Oh Eun-young commented, &'It must have been rough for you, since you were so young when you had to go through all that. But are you done crying now? I want you to keep your confidence wherever you are from now on.&' (Credit Channel A Dr. Oh's Golden Clinic) (SBS Star)SBS 뉴스 | Lee Narin | 2022.06.27 | 방송/연예

On June 23, a press conference for an upcoming sci-fi movie 'Alienoid' took place at one hotel in Yeouido, Seoul. During the press conference, So Jisub shared how uneasy filming 'Alienoid' was. So Jisub said, &'When I usually read a script, I can imagine the story in my head, but that was hard for 'Alienoid'. I kept asking myself, 'Is that really possible?' I couldn't see how it would turn out to look like in the movie.&' He resumed, &'But visual effects director Choi Dong-hoon directed me well. I had a storyboard that helped me as well. But I did feel quite lonely filming solely with the green screen all the time. Just as when I was about to get too lonely, Woo Bin joined me. I couldn't be happier.&' He continued, &'He usually filmed from an area far from me, and there were times when I didn't get to see him at all. Every time I saw him though, I got that energy to get through the shooting. I no longer felt lonely. I felt lonely there too. Whenever I saw Jisub from the distance, I could sense my mind going into this peaceful mode.&' He added, &'Jisub has broad shoulders, you know. Although he was far away from me most of the time, his broad shoulders made me feel like he was someone I could lean on if I ever needed to.&' Meanwhile, 'Alienoid' is expected to hit the theaters on July 20. [SBS Star] Rian·Gabee Say, "We Weren't Allowed to Use the Same Restroom as Singers Since We Were Dancers"
Dancers Rian and Gabee talked about the time when they were not allowed to use the same restroom as singers because they were dancers. On June 20 episode of MBN's television show 'A Vacation in Hotel Suites', Rian and Gabee featured as guests. While having a meal at a restaurant with actress So E Hyun, Rian shared how she started dancing. Rian said, &'I joined a dance club when I was in middle school, and performed at the school festival. After the performance, everybody told me how great I was, and I just couldn't forget the crowd cheering for me and my team when we performed. I fell completely in love with dancing then. From there, I got to where I am now.&' Gabee stated, &'It was the same for me. I became a dancer solely with that pure love for dance. I just knew I wanted to dance for a living. I didn't really think of money though. I was young, so I thought, 'I'm sure I'll make enough to buy food for myself.' That's how I ended up becoming a dancer, and thankfully a good opportunity has recently found us.&' Then, So E Hyun asked them if there were any difficulties they faced as dancers before they became known to the public. Rian answered, &'Lots, actually. There were lots of times when I felt upset because I was a dancer. When I went to perform for a singer before, I used to get told to use another restroom, because the restroom that I was about to go was only for singers, not for dancers. I thought that was kind of unfair.&' Gabee added, &'I've been there, too. They told me to go around and use the restroom really far away. It was like, 'We're humans like them. Why are they treating us like that?'&', then laughed, seeming like she can laugh about it now. Afterwards, So E Hyun commented, &'When I started gaining fame, I worried that the fame would disappear soon. It was too dream-like at first.&' Gabee nodded and responded, &'Yeah, that's exactly how I feel at the moment. I believe this all can even disappear tomorrow.&' Rian said, &'It's like that for me as well. Some people around me have said to me, 'How long do you really think dancers will be popular for?' Whenever I hear something like that, I try not to forget why I'm a dancer, and why I stepped into this world.&' Both Rian and Gabee have over 10 years of experience as dancers, but only recently started gaining attention from the public following their appearance in Mnet's survival show 'Street Woman Fighter'. After 'Street Woman Fighter' last year, a lot of talented but not famous dancers began to be in the spotlight, and more people learned about their job. It was previously revealed that the industry poorly treated dancers before 'Street Woman Fighter'. (Credit MBN A Vacation in Hotel Suites) (SBS Star)SBS 뉴스 | Lee Narin | 2022.06.22 | 방송/연예

[SBS Star] Lee Jung Shin Thanks JUNHO·Yoona for Breaking the Preconceived Notion About K-pop Stars Acting
K-pop boy band CNBLUE's bassist Lee Jung Shin expressed gratitude to JUNHO of boy group 2PM and Yoona of girl group Girls' Generation for breaking the preconceived notion about K-pop stars who act. On June 10, Lee Jung Shin met some reporters for an interview after wrapping up his drama 'Shooting Stars'. During the interview, Lee Jung Shin answered a question asking what it is like to go back and forth being a K-pop star and actor. Lee Jung Shin said, &'Although CNBLUE is unable to release as many albums and promote together like the old times, we have the same thought on how we want to balance the two jobs―we all want to focus on our individual activities while keeping our team.&' He resumed, &'I'm currently more focused on acting, and I wanted to let more people know that I was acting through 'Shooting Stars'. I have a stronger desire to step further and higher as an actor right now.&' Then, Lee Jung Shin was asked, &'Is there still a negative preconceived notion about K-pop stars who turned to acting within the industry like the past? I assume that it's not as negative as before; in fact, quite positive nowadays.&' Lee Jung Shin answered, &'Ah yes, I mean, it's still there. But it's become much more positive than before. I believe it depends on how well I act. I'm a bit careful to comment on this matter, because I'm nowhere near successful as an actor.&' The CNBLUE's bassist/actor continued, &'But... It's all thanks to many great actors/actresses who are also in the K-pop world. They broke that preconceived notion. I believe JUNHO and Yoona played a huge role in doing that. So, I thank them a lot for that.&' He carried on speaking about it, &'I even think some producers like K-pop star-turned-actors/actresses more, as we have our own strengths. For instance, if that person was the lead dancer, then he/she can pull off action scenes well. Lastly, he added, &'I'll certainly work harder to reach that point where the producers are easily able to spot my strengths like that. I know it's still a long way to go for me, but I hope luck will find me with a good project one day.&' (Credit 'yoona__lim' 'le2jh' 'leejungshin91' Instagram) (SBS Star)SBS 뉴스 | Lee Narin | 2022.06.15 | 방송/연예
[SBS Star] One Casting Director Tries to Cast 3 EPEX Members as Potential Actors in a Coffee Shop
One casting director said to have asked three members of K-pop boy group EPEX―BAEKSEUNG, MU and WISH whether they want to make debut as actors when they were in a coffee shop. On June 14, WISH took to the group's official fan messenger to tell fans an intriguing story. WISH said, &'I was with BAEKSEUNG and MU today. We went to a coffee shop together, and something completely unexpected happened there.&' The leader of EPEX continued, &'We got approached by a casting director. We were so surprised. The casting director gave us a business card, and asked if we were interested in entering the acting industry as actors.&' He went on, &'He/she first asked us, 'Would it be alright if you guys told me what you do?' So, I was going to just tell him/her that we were trainees. But BAEKSEUNG told the casting director who we really were. BAEKSEUNG told him/her that we were the members of EPEX.&' He resumed, &'But it didn't seem like he/she knew EPEX at all. So, BAEKSEUNG continued to explain who we were by letting him/her know who were in the group, who were our labelmates and so on.&' WISH laughingly added, &'It was such a cool experience, because I haven't had this sort of experience after debut.&' It seemed like the casting director approached them, and hoped they joined the agency he/she worked for to debut them as actors, without knowing that they were K-pop stars. BAEKSEUNG, MU and WISH are the three tallest members of the group; BAEKSEUNG is 186cm (6.1ft), WISH and MU are 184cm (6ft). As they are all also very good-looking that they most certainly stood out among the coffee shop customers. It was not too surprising that they caught the eye of the casting director in the coffee shop. EPEX is a 8-member group that made debut in June last year under C9 Entertainment, where K-pop acts such as CIX, cignature, YOUNHA, Lee Seok Hoon and more belong.
